Staccato Screening: Simulating Spot Colours

The expanded colour gamut and advanced dot structure means Staccato screening delivers an enhanced capability to simulate spot colours.

With Staccato screening, colour screen tint builds are smooth and have the look of spot colour inks allowing us to simulate a wide range of spot colours without using special inks. That helps us to gain efficiencies in the pressroom and save on the cost of washups, waste and downtime.

One common application of replacing a spot colour with CMYK Staccato is where a light grey spot colour has been used for terms and conditions on the reverse of a letterhead. If this text were reproduced with conventional screening the text would be unreadable, but Staccato's microdot structure renders it perfectly.
