Saddle-Stitching

Saddle-stitched brochures are produced by nesting multiple printed signatures, or sections, inside one another. We normally print 4-, 8-, 16- or 32-page sections on SRA2 sheets (640 x 450mm) which are then folded down to the correct size for the brochure being produced. The sections are gathered together by the saddle-stitcher before being stitched through the spine with staples that are formed from a continuous length of thin wire. The books are then trimmed on three edges to the correct size to produce a very neat finished job.

We can produce saddle-stitched books to any size from CD size through to A3 portrait, and in any number of pages up to around the 100 page mark. The maximum number of pages we can bind is determined by the thickness of the book, and we can comfortably bind up to around 8-9mm. The books will usually lie flat when opened, although that can't be guaranteed due to the thickness of the finished books and the material being used.

The following options are also available on most saddle-stitched brochures:

  • Loop-stitching;
  • Fold-out flaps on the cover or inside pages;
  • A die-cut cover section;
  • Having the brochures stitched inside a pocket-folder;
