Embossing is the where individual sheets of paper are pressed into a metal die to add a third dimension to the paper's surface. This produces a portion of raised image area on paper.

This process is mainly used on higher value products such as presentation folders and brochure covers, or when a higher perceived value is required on products like letterheads and business cards. Embossing laminated sheets is not generally recommended.

Embossing can be used in conjunction with block foiling to produce some fantastic results.
